I live in NY.
Ordered 2 jackets online from a national department store, in one order.
One cost about $80 and had no tax added.
One cost about $140 and had sales tax added.
Why?
Disappointing because I thought the more expensive one was nice enough to be worth it, but after adding tax the difference is bigger.

Oh. Darn.
Thanks for explaining, I knew I must be missing something.
Too bad I have expensive taste. I wasn't able to find what I was looking for for less.
