The persecution of Christians in Africa and the Middle East is a huge story, and I agree it receives virtually no coverage in the U.S.
Given the outpouring of support among devout Christians when Jews are maligned, we should make more of an effort to publicize and object to both large-scale atrocities and individual attacks.

Why is this not in the mainstream news? The bbc article I read earlier but can't find now refers to terror attacks but omits that it is Muslims attacking Christians.

Because it's not "news." People expect Nigeria to be a third-world country and therefore do not care about human rights violations, massacres, or civil wars there.
Unfortunately, what seems to evoke more sympathy (and therefore more news coverage) is an incident that we can imagine ourselves being a part of, and therefore conjure up sufficient shock and horror.
This situation seems so far removed from many that there is not enough to relate to.
Halevai that we all would feel true pain at the suffering of any person, anywhere.

The only place that is consistently and reliably reporting these ongoing atrocities is The Gatestone Institute blog.
Their reporters are all writing from the field, witnessing things first hand. Often at the risk of their own lives. It's very impactful, because Western writers can report and people think we're "imposing our values", but when resident reporters submit reports, you know they are telling it like it is (whether Westerners like it or not.) They have no agenda to skew the facts.
