The price ranges are so vastly different...what is the main reason for this? Is it because it won’t stay on as long?

This is how perfume works in descending order eau de perfume most concentrated and most expensive, eau de toilette diluted and mid range price, body spray very very diluted and cheapest. The fragrance portion is costly and supposedly the more concentrated it is the longer it lasts on the skin. Personally I think it varies from brand to brand and also on your skin. Example: Chanel Coco Mademoiselle I have the eau de toilette and it lasts all day and another favorite is Sol De Jeneiro body spray which also lasts all day on my particular skin
