I work in an office twice a week. I really don’t like the job and I can’t wait for the day to end.
Technically I have a second job that I work from home which I set my own hours.
I was just informed that July 4 the office is closed which is my day to go in.
My boss pays for holidays and he never spoke about making up the day.
Do I offer to switch my days so I will come in on one of my off days technically I could do it but I really don’t want to.
The following week I can’t work one of my days so I will ask to switch my days which usually is not a problem but now it will look funny.
I would love a day off just because I don’t like the job.

There is no reason you have to offer to make up holiday hours unless you have specific work that you are behind in and then it's a nice courtesy but definitely not expected. Paid holidays are part of the benefit of being on salary

If you get paid holidays and the business is closed, there is no expectation that you should come in a different day. If your boss lets you save up “unused” holidays and take off a different day when it’s more convenient for you, that might be a motivation to schedule an extra day. Some employers allow this, others don’t.
