Chop up onions in 1/2 rings. Put 1 cup of sugar per 6-8 slices salmon. Put salt, paprika, and a little lemon juice. Add bay leaves if you like. Add fish and water. Cook for 35-40 minutes.
Gefilta fish: cut onion in 1/2 rings. Add salt, sugar, paprike. Wrap fish in parchment paper and foil, cover with water and cook for 1 1/2 hours.

For 1 or 2 rolls gefilteh:
1 onion
2 garlic cloves
1 or 2 carrots peeled and left whole
1 cup sugar
1/2 tsp salt
Black pepper and paprika to taste
Water till 3/4 full but not more because it will overflow when putting in the rolls.
I dont have exact measurments. Im telling you the ingredients based on a 9x13 pan.
Pike skin to make the water jello. I use gelatin. You don't have to use anything and just leave it liquidy
Boil up everything, add roll, cover and cook low flame 1 1/2 hrs. Let cool and refrigerate.
When serving, I like to put the liquid or jello in a bowl on table and everyone helps themselves.
Edited to add, put pike skin and onion in a net bag and the gefilteh is store bought frozen any brand.

Best and prettiest salmon for a crown- smear grey poupon (is that how you spell it?!) mustard, drizzle with honey. Optional: press on bread crumbs and then tomato slices on top.
Make it on one of those huge planks and put it on a pretty platter.

Option 1: Drizzle olive oil paprika garlic powder black pepper, coat even and in the oven 350 for 20/25 min.
Option 2: coat with small amount of mayo and sprinkle all spices
Option 3: cost with small amount of mayo and sprinkle with onion flakes (the one you would buy for crumbs usually)
Option 4: coat with teriaki sauce and add some sliced mushroom
Option 5: sweet and sour Hungarian. Sear a large Spanish onion in 1/2 cup of honey until brownish. Add 6 slices of salmon on top and sliced carrots. Cover with water, drizzle vinegar, add 2 bay leaves, black pepper, one or two whole cloves.
Let it on the stove for about 35/40 min.
Options are endless.
