I’m clueless about sports. Please advise what size /type of mitt, ball & bat are good to buy. Dunno if it’ll take off, and on a tight budget, so looking to spend as little as possible. Prefer a softer and safer bat & ball as my boys will likely play around my younger kids at some point. TIA

I obviously don't know where you live but check out this store: https://www.playitagainsports.com/
They sell decent quality used equipment for cheaper than new and your son will quickly outgrow whatever you buy him now so it's not worth buying top quality stuff. Do you have Little League in your area? That's a good way to get him involved in baseball at his level.
