I agree with you, but it seems most people only get involved when it negates their own world view, not just in order to oppose government overreach.
I mean, how many orthodox Jews are writing petitions arguing for more freedom when it comes to abortions? Why not? The halachic world permits abortions in many cases, so why aren't orthodox Jews demonstrating against all the limits and government interference?

The answer is that many orthodox Jews are staunchly conservative, and they agree with government overreach when it comes to limiting abortions.

So let's not get all moral about government overreach. I don't know any orthodox Jews who oppose it when it's convenient for them.

So it seems from here that even pro vax ladies feel this should not be required for school attendance, so why does it not bother anyone that govt wants to go ahead and push this law through.

It bothers me but I will not sign or support anything spearheaded by the anti-vax crowd.

so let them get regular pap smears and don't start smoking.
90 something % of the time it clears by itself.
It's a case of inventing a cure for a problem that doesn't exist. It's considered a rare cancer even by the non-Jews in the Western world who often will have a boyfriend by age 11 and first pregnancy by age 15 or 16 and a minimum of two marriages (not counting all the other relationships)

Off topic, but this is grossly misinformed. Studies across America have shown that the average age for first relations is usually 19 years old.
Sorry, just my personal pet peeve when people assume that secular people are all over the place.

When the average age is calculated, it takes into consideration those who start way before or way after. NY is a highly populated state comprised of many ethnic communities. In some of these, you are hard pressed to find a 19 year old virgin.

Personally I also wish that it wasn't connected to anti-vaxers because I view their whole approach as most likely to lose. They seem to antagonize the public as well as the law makers.

So you would anytime rather have your rights taken away than agree with somebody you hate? Sounds very unjewish and anti totah to me.
You just fasted on yom kippur and pleaded with hashem for a good new year. But you hate some of his children.
Oh ok.

I am not that poster. But I am willing to sign if the petition includes a protest against limiting all abortions, Alabama style.

But one of the posters was wondering why the frum community wasn't making a bigger effort to oppose mandating this vaccine. I would think that if it would not really make a dent in the 4000 American deaths from VPD related cancers each year, it would be self evident that nobody should support the mandate. Where is everyone who should be concerned about this?

The sad state of affairs in America is that very few people care that their rights are being trampled on.
Those famous words from the infamous socialist czar on how to turn a country into a communist one “make those changes gradually, say you’re doing it for their benefit and take away freedom one at a time”

Nature is that people wake up when it’s too late. Medical tyranny is alive and active.
Sadder than anything is that Americans are willingly going along with it.
Most Americans are against metzizta bpeh. Most Americans agree that your child must receive a full secular education or else the child is being neglected.
Most Americans also view Judasim as archaic.

So not always is the general believe the correct one and the one we go by.

Most Americans watch TV. Majors channels have stated that 70-80% of their ads are from pharmaceutical companies and they will not upset their biggest sponsors.

There is a reason that the opioid crisis is still not solved. There is a reason that close to half of the population is on physiatric drugs. There is a reason why our country is sicker than ever.

There is a reason why anybody who questions any sort of medical related anything is considered crazy. It is a systematic approach created by those who profit from us.
But most people believe that merck and pfizer are here to help you. If they are here to help us why would they forge studies to get drugs approved? But they do. They are battling more than one court case.
Drug makers are king.
Happens to be they also manufacture vaccines. But vaccines is for the public good. Only opioids are full of scandals. Vaccines are god - you must mever question that.

But again, your referencing if the frum community needs a cure for STD or not.
The point is not if yes or no. (IMO we do need)
The point is this vaccine does not necessarily work and has a higher percentage of harming then of working. Only 5% of those 50% of ppl who will get this STD will develop this cancer that this vaccine is protecting for.
So we are trying to mandate a vaccine to EVERYONE so that a 1% may or may not be protected in 50 years from now. The real life side effects happen to 1/3 of those receiving the vaccine.
Finally, note that in the manufacturerers own trial studies, girls already infected with this STD are 46% more likely to develop cancer than anyone else. We went from the average of 5% to 46%. This should make you think.

Over 90% of twenty somethings have been infected with HPV which spreads very easily and causes many other cancers besides cervical. And even when HPV leading to cervical cell changes is caught before turning into full blown cervical cancer by pap smear it can have very negative effects on future fertility and ability to maintain a pregnancy.

Any sane person would want to avoid this virus.

There are actually people who took a scientific and intellectual approach to challenging the current medical protocol and got somewhere. The recommendation for mammogram and PSA testing comes to mind.

And this is the problem when you vote for people who give you "freebies" and for grater governmental control over more aspects of daily life. When you give them greater power, they will take more. They won't willingly give it up and will seek greater control over your life.
TANSTAAFL. There is always a cost. Usually not just a financial cost but one where more of your freedoms are being taken away.

This is not a petition.
This is a bill awaiting a vote in the State Assembly and Senate. You can submit your vote Aye or Nay.

Regarding abortions, if you link to a bill awaiting a vote, I will vote on it too. There are no riders on this bill, but feel free to call up your State Senator and State Assemblyman and discuss your concerns with them.

Posting your prerequistes here on imamother won't get you anywhere.

You evidently missed my earlier response to this same sentence. Scroll up.

Anyone who doesn't agree with you is ignorant? Anyone refusing to support your initiative is ignorant? The only thing my comment could have shown I could possibly be ignorant of is the identity of those behind this initiative.

I'm neither pro nor anti vaccine. When it comes to medical issues, I am pro parental choice. Why? Because somebody will be making choices related to your child's medical care (or lack thereof). And that's either you, the government or your child.

Many people wanted to government to mandate vaccines, in case 'irresponsible' parents refuse them. I was against that idea, because if the government can force 1 vaccine on your child, then it sets the precedent that they can force another, and another, and another, and another...

This tragically is the result of people who wanted the State to nanny those they disagreed with. You wanted vaccines, well now you got vaccines. And guess what- there'll surely be more coming, too.

For those of you who are interested in political activism regarding this issue: Here is a link to a new facebook group that opened specifically for those who oppose HPV and flu mandates (even those who are pro other vaccines)

Feel free to share this link with those whom you think may be interested

Senator Brad Hoylman (D), who carries the bill proposing to make HPV vaccine mandatory to attend school for children born after January 1, 2008, has ties directly to the vaccine manufacturer from his spouse. Senator Hoylman is a vaccine extremist... if the New York legislation passes this bill New York State will be the very first state with mandatory HPV and no exemptions. Religious exemptions are now repealed because of Sen. Hoylman’s bill that passed due to coerced vote in the Assembly Health Committee on June 13th, and medical exemptions are now virtually impossible to obtain in NYS based on the latest NYS DOH regulations.

Brad Hoylman’s husband’s mother is Ellen Sigal, founder of Friends of Cancer Research, a congressional advisory board on all matters relating to Cancer research. One of her colleagues is Doug Lowy, the co-inventor and Lasker award winner for his work on the HPV vaccine.

https://www.nytimes.com/…/brad-hoylman-david-sigal-weddings…

Her bio, worked with FDA, NIH, NCI, stakeholders etc:
https://www.asco.org/people/ellen-v-sigal-phd
"Dr. Sigal also holds leadership positions with a broad range of cancer advocacy and public policy organizations, including: Duke University's Comprehensive Cancer Center, the Johns Hopkins Cancer Center Advisory Council, the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health, the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) and the American Cancer Society. Dr. Sigal serves on the Board of Scientific Advisors for the National Cancer Institute and most recently, Dr. Sigal was named to the National Institute of Health Director's Council of Public Representatives."

Sigal’s connection to Lowy - they are both on the board of scientific advisors to NCI:
https://www.ascopost.com/…/friends-of-cancer-research-ret…/…

Also colleagues in the Cancer Moonshot Program:
https://www.loc.gov/item/webcast-7738

And David Sigal at one point had investments in Merck (see page 16): https://jcope.ny.gov/…/do…/2018/01/senator-hoylman-b2014.pdf

This is pay for play legislation, with clear financial ties driving bills to mandate a vaccine with an alarming safety record. According to the federal Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System as of 7/14/2019 there have been 62687 reported adverse incidents with HPV vaccines, including 510 deaths, 15,413 emergency room visits, 6,309 hospitalizations, and 3031 permanent disabilities (and VAERS captures less than 10% of actual incidences). The safety record for HPV vaccines is so troubling that Japan ended their recommendation of HPV vaccination for Japanese girls in 2014. In addition, Merck, the manufacturer of Gardasil, is charged with submitting fraudulent documents in the licensing process. A lawsuit is under way in California, Robi v. Merck, that alleges Merck submitted fraudulent safety and efficacy data to the federal government during the licensing process. Lastly there is no solid evidence that vaccines actually prevents cervical cancer, which takes decades to develop, the studies are fatally flawed for this vaccine.

And you dont do any social homeschooling outings? Many homeschoolers dont vax or keep their vax status quiet. I'm sure there are way more unvax kiddos in homeschool groups than in actual schools.

But, I digress. HPV could very well come to your state in the blink of an eye, especially if it passes in NY. If the fight is left solely to the anti vaxxers, it will surely pass. It's time to put differences aside and stand up for things that may impact you. Keep an eye on your own state bills.
