My 11 year old daughter is lactose intolerant it seems. Can anyone share some suggestions for best milk substitute, best cheese substitute (for making home made pizza) , etc. Or any other tips. Thanks so much.

For milk substitute we use almond breeze unsweetened almond milk. The shelf stable containers are parve.

Part one is lactaid pills are great
We use almond milk from Costco.
For cheese we’ve found cheddar and Muenster are lower in lactose and can be handled with the help of lactaid. (My brother can handle them without the lactaid)
Yogurt- so delicious are great
Cream cheese- tofuti isn’t bad

If it's not a dairy allergy, then get lactaid milk. I think they make other products, too. Daiya cheese is yummy. So Delicious ice cream, or the soy creamy ice cream from TJ.
Can you get her lactase drops to drop into yogurt/ice cream?

Lactose free milk, Parmasean is very low in lactose as is aged cheddar, they make lactose free yogurt and many people can tolerate regular yogurt because of the probiotics

Hey
So I am off dairy:
I drink soy milk (vanilla) and I really like it
For hot cocoa I warm up the soy milk and pour that into the cocoa it's delicious
There is a pareve butter that I started using- Smart Balance butter it is also really good!
Tofutti cream cheese is an option it's great too!

I highly recommend you check out the chocolatecoveredkatie.com website. It’s a vegan recipe website, so everything is dairy free. Lots & lots of great recipes and tips for baking/cooking. She even has a vegan pizza recipe.

Devash makes A1 free milk. It has a purple label. It worked for me over Pesach. Otherwise I use lactaid pills.

For milk we use organic unsweetened non-dairy milks like soy, hemp, coconut, almond, etc. Many shelf stable boxes are pareve. For butter, Earth Balance is outstanding and comes in tubs or sticks. Excellent brands to check out for cream cheese or yogurts are Treeline, Kite Hill, So Delicious. Follow your Heart has a great vegan ranch dressing. Daiya melts fine for pizza or nachos, we prefer the white shredded to the orange. there's another brand of cheese I like called Violife or something like that, comes in slices. Once stores open up again you'll have fun taking your time at health food stores like Whole Foods to see the huge variety available these days.

We went dairy-free as a family for a while as an experiment; now the kids are back on dairy and I'm on minimum dairy with occasional detoxes. My conclusion:
Almond milk substitutes best for most things.
I don't like it in coffee. Soy milk is acceptable.
Yogurt, like whatever, I can live without yogurt easily enough that why bother with expensive alternative types? Are they as nutritious as milk yogurt?
But cheese. I never found any good answer for cheese. They were all pretty bad. Just use lactaid if that's possible. In general I would rather just live without cheese than use fake cheese. I did sprinkle a little on the kids' food for the optics but it didn't taste great.
Things like fake cheese and yogurt basically just helped us make the transition while we learned how to like other foods.
