Gluten comes from grains, usually wheat. There is no gluten in whey.
Whey comes from milk. To be cholov yisrael it’s much more expensive.

I don’t think any protein powders have wheat gluten.

You are correct about whey and the lack of gluten. Some protein powders have wheatgrass which itself doesn’t have wheat but the seeds do and the processing isn’t careful. For someone that needs gluten free stay away from the powders with greens like wheatgrass.

Why do you try to stay away from whey protein?

We keep CY and whey is milk derived. Secondly, there are studies showing milk products are actually addictive so we limit them added into foods. We do eat yogurt.

I drink a large protein smoothie every morning and don't need to eat anything until lunch.
