Ouch.
If you are able to do that which Elfrida enumerated, then yes, "you can become a valued member of Israeli society." Some of us, despite our best efforts, can't reach those goals but nevertheless consider ourselves "valued members of Israeli society."
People I knew in the States who are contemplating aliyah call me. Three in the last month, in fact. I pass along to all of them advice I received before I made aliyah: Don't try to recreate your previous chutz l'aretz life here. Instead, appreciate and embrace what's here. That works for me.
