Pls can someone let me know the current process of getting Drivers permit for 16 yr old - can we go directly to DMV or does it have to be through Driving School?
If done directly by DMV hows the process been since after they reopened from Corona?
Time sensitive cause my son would like to go early this morning!
Thank you

To my knowledge, 16 is only through a driving school. If you want to do it yourself, you need to wait until 17.
I believe you need a permit for at least 6 months if not a year before you can take your road test. Google the DMV. It will tell you definitively.
(This was current a year ago, as DD turned 17 in September )

Thank you the quick response.
It does seem like it needs to be through the driving school at 16. I will be in touch with Skillful Driving School just didn’t want to shell out $300 when DS in oot yeshiva and don’t know when he can schedule all the lessons....
