Does it? I don't know the rules of Yiddish spelling, as a system.

אריינגעטון
אריינגעטוען

That’s the thing about Yiddish. There is no one right way to spell.

We are as American as apple pie, possibly more so. (My grandchildren are seventh generation) But that was a word we heard growing up, but it meant awful as in that dress is Cha-loo-shes, your hair looks Cha-loo-shes, and those shoes...........

Emotional pain is “in a klem”.

That's צוקלעמט

As in

מאמי! ער האט צוקלעמט מיין פינגער

And I offer as proof the lyrics from בריוועלע:

אינגאנצן צעבראכן פארביטערט און פארקלעמט
ער קען זיך נישט בארואיגן, קיין נחמה פון קיינעם נעמט

Haven't heard that word since my childhood. We used it to describe something that was absolutely horrible rather than how we were feeling

Very American, grew up JPF.
To this day my whole family "chalishes" for yummy food that for some reason is unavailable.
We also "chalish" from embarrassment.
Clothes or an affair that we didn't think were nice weren't "chaloshesh", just not our taste.
