All my kids loved hugs until they outgrew it. I now tell my kids pretty often, when they do teen stuff, that they are "lucky that I love them".

Me three. I was never hugged or told I was loved either.

From the replies, it sounds like those who didn't grow up in a huggy home don't feel comfortable giving them out regularly once they have their own kids but it is not that way with my dh who grew up with no hugs from dad and only a few from mom and grandma. He was always super huggy from day one with me and with our kids as they were born. I grew up in a very huggy home and don't feel any difference in our hugginess from different backgrounds. Dh's father was European but I don't think that was the reason he didn't hug much, I think it was personality.
It happens that each kid really like strong hugs and touch and my almost 20 year old likes hugs just as much as my 2 year old and none of the kids ever had a teenage age break in their desires for touch and hugs. If anything, it seems they are even more huggy than I am.
