What’s correct form for the Ukrainian /polish Jewish name « Eyzer « ?
Ezra? Ozer? And is Ozera=Ezra?

I am also interested. My great grandfather was Oyzer and I also thought it might be derived from Ezra, but really have no idea.

So I have census and other official records that list “Eyzer”, his siddur is labeled “Eyzerovich” (patronymic =ben Eyzer).
At the same time, some neighbors used patronymic “Lazarevich”, and we found some docs for a very similar family list with the head of the household named Lazer, and we suspect that maybe at some point his father went by the name Lazer.
Go figure... anyone heard specifically of the name “Eizer”?
