And from what age? My lo has a hot dog tonight and asked for more! But it's so unhealthy.

I do, and I eat them as well. More often in the summer than in the winter (BBQ's, lazy mom dinner night, etc).
It's okay. Most foods are ok in moderate amounts.

Salmon franks are a great substitute.
Try them, you either love them or hate them.

I think they are delicious. They are not a weekly dinner, but once in a blue is not going to kill anyone.

Sorry but Salmon hot dogs sound nasty.

I consider them healthier than pasta and cheese. Or pizza. We buy the uncured nitrate free ones with the least amount of additives. We have them about once every 2 weeks. No buns, round it out with sweet potato fries, grilled vegetables, guacamole, fermented sauerkraut

I actually like them, and they're healthy too.

Care to share. What are salmon hot dogs and where to get them? Please

As for me and hotdogs.
I tend to agree with the poster who said the nitrate- free healthier type are better than mac and cheese.
Imnsho

As to how often we have them: Its my back up meal. So depends on the month. Could be once a week. Could skip a month.
And we skip the bun and use romaine or home made spelt bread.

My kids love them. For my 4 year old I cut them up. Its once every other week for lunch. I also like hot dogs. My children eat them with a bun, no toppings.

I serve them when I’m tired of cooking. My whole family loves them, even my one year old. I cut into tiny pieces for her.

Were don’t need the extra empty carbs, bleached flours, and other nasty additives. No, I don’t say this to my kids.

Health aside they gross me out. Phallic shaped meat isn’t my thing.

Do you let them have any complex carbohydrates?

Sure. We just try to stick to Whole Foods. At least for meals.

Sauerkraut is by definition fermented.

No, not all of them are. The shelf stable ones are pasteurized and any beneficial bacteria is killed that way.
