What do you all, who are terrible fasters, do, on 9 av?
I drink so much before hand, but I almost always get debilitating migraines during the day at some point.
I know shiurim are only a thing on YK.
I am always terrified for 9 av. And it affects me for days after.
What are some things you do to make 9 av bareable, if that?
Please, only looking for answers from those who are also terrible fasters.

https://www.dioralyte.co.uk/

This (or something similar). It's basically a sugar/salt solution, so you could probably use a home-made version.

Stay in bed with lights closed.

Take kaali tzom before (helped me a lot this yom kippur).

No other advice- it’s really tough.

I get terrible migraines from fasting - and they can last for days afterwards.

Did you ever try Tylenol and caffeine suppositories? You take them on tisha Ba’av.. I take them twice during the day. They help a lot.

Also, in recent years I was actually given a p’sak not to fast. Did you ask your LOR?

I used to be a terrible faster ,used to vomit for hours, even once the fast was over. I have a regimen now..not sure which of these do the job but the combination seems to help..been fasting well ever since.

Start tapering down caffeine a week before. The day before ,drink tons of Powerade,Gatorade..like 20 cups. When I was in Israel I couldn't find these items but u may have better luck. Take Kali tzom(2 pills) a few hours before the fast. After eating take a Prilosec/prevacid..it helps keep the acid from rising up. And last..the suppositories...you said you won't take them .but they work wonders

Good luck.

If you can take pills without water then you can swallow an excedrin pill on tisha bav preemptively to avoid the migraine

Same. It’s the worst hardest fast for me. Even without leaving the house it’s a sure thing that I’m going to be sick. I hate 9 bav so much

If it affects you for days after, you should speak to a rav. I get so dehydrated that sometimes I'm not yet back for at least a month. The rav told me what to do from now on though I don't announce it.

I live in Lakewood
The suppositories are available at westgate pharmacy, Madison pharmacy, and Refua pharmacy.
Not sure where you can get them out of Lakewood, but maybe call one of those pharmacies and ask if they know who else sells them.

OP - I don’t know why you wouldn’t do the suppositories. I have SEVERE migraines and they help tremendously (when taken before a migraine sets in).

Isn’t that better than being sick for days?

I am also a horrible faster. I find drinking coconut water the day before can also help.

Stop drinking coffee a week before. It’s amazing how much this helps. I’ll get headaches for 3 days straight but at least I can address them. And yes, kali tzom are essential!
Have u tried them op?
