I would avoid a name that is unusual in my circles. I named a child after someone with an uncommon name and she feels very self-conscious about her name and has complained about it. OTOH, you never know. My other daughter with a very typical name likes to be out of the box, and would have loved to have her sister's unique name. But you can't go wrong with a typical name.

May you have an easy pregnancy, and clarity with this.
I like the name Dafna. I don't know if I'd give a name that no one I know has. If I met a Dafna, I'd assume either that they named after a grandmother or that the people I'm meeting just have a different sub-community/subculture than the one I usually associate with.

(I did name my oldest daughter a name that's a little out of the box, but she does have another kid or two in her (more diverse) school with the same name. Just not in our very extended family or shul. It worked out nicely, she loves her name and never questioned it.)

Like others said, dofen is a wall, like a dofen akumah.... My husband also learned sukkah, about 10 years ago...

Again, it is SO IMPORTANT not to name a kid a name that will be made fun of.I
You have to really be honest with yourself if kids will tease her.

Regarding shana dafna, I don't like the sound of it at all.
Shoshana Dafna is better.

I don't like Daphne at all, but Dafna just sounds atypical to me.

Honest opinion here: really do NOT like the combo Shoshanna dafna way too many short "a" sounds. Also, dafna- ok name but Daphne no way very dated

I'd say Shani for the win if you like it

I’m gonna give it a yes. I have 2 kids with super typical names (Sara, Rivka type) and one kid with a very unique name and I just love it. I love how she owns it, I love how people are curious how it came about and I love that she never needs a last name cuz everyone knows who she is! That being said, I did give her a typical 2nd name ..

Do you know where the expression comes from? It originally meant a caesarean birth, as the baby came out through the wall - that is, the stomach. It was expanded to mean anything extraordinary.
