I have 2 daughters there. I absolutely love it, so do they. Excellent morahs, very attentive, loving and engaging. Wasn't hard to get in, but might be because we know one of the established families that's been sending there for like 5 years.

How many kids in a class? Is it a very big school?

I have two daughters there, but am not native to Brooklyn. These are just my experiences/impressions.

Starts with kindergarten (no nursery).
17-20 girls per class, two tracks per grade.
It's a very warm, caring environment. They really strive to meet every girl's needs. For example, at the beginning of second grade for English they have a reading specialist assess each girl to make sure she is on the right level. Then they'll give extra help 1:1 to anyone who needs. They do the same thing for kriah in first grade, with many girls getting extra 1:1 help.
If you're the type of family the school is geared for (hashkafically), it isn't hard to get into the elementary school.

BYBP is a much bigger school. My impression is that it's easy to get into, and they'll stick you in one of the many classes, but if you want to be in a specific class (like the more yeshivishe class, etc), you need to have connections.

Bybp has more diverse crowd including chassidush, Russian, Israeli. Run very well. Every 2 grades has their own principals.
Drab Meir is a more litvish Flatbush school. Higher academic level maybe? Also great school and staff. Drab much smaller school and shrinking every year.

Why is it shrinking? People not happy?

Would they take kids with parents having chasidish background? Shtreimal n all? Would the kid not fit in?

Why is it shrinking? People are moving out of Brooklyn. A lot of people who are that type can send to flatbush schools closer to home like bya masores prospect park etc. Its a great school. I went there years ago.

Brooklyn schools are shrinking cause houses are unaffordable.

People moving to Lakewood and other cheaper communities.

Is it comparable in hashkafa to the other Flatbush schools?
How is it compared to the high school?
What are the 2 tracks?

It's a very mainstream yeshivsh bais Yaakov. I don't know who they would take or if the kid would fit in. But seeing that the streimel- wearing parents want to apply they may fit in. Go see the school at dismissal time and see who the parents are. Look at the middle school students and you will get a sense of the hashkafa

The high school is more selective and yeshivishe in hashkafa. (Like you'll have kids in the elementary school with internet/dvd access and such, but not in the high school. At least not openly. That's my understanding.)

The two tracks are decided based mostly on neighborhood. They have other considerations as well, but don't really admit to them. They're pretty insistent that sisters be in the same track and they're tough about wanting to change tracks. But if there's a valid reason, and you're not asking to hop back and forth they will hear you out.

Hmmmm. I guess they would take. They're very open-minded and accepting of all backgrounds, from what I can tell. They also teitch chumash into Yiddish until fourth grade, but it's mostly a formality. (They learn in, chazer it, etc...but aren't really responsible for knowing it cold.)

This. It's not because people aren't happy. Their demographic has moved out of the area. BP families send in BP, Flatbush families send to Lev BY, BYA, and Masores.

Every single school in Flatbush, both boys and girls, is shrinking, because young families are moving out in droves. Even BYBP is down to only four first grade classes this year (when they normally had six)

This works in the parents' favor because it is really not so hard to get into schools anymore
