This is my first non cake mix Pesach, and I'm going to make brownies IYH which I don't think ou hve to separate eggs for, and I also have a crumbcake recie that I want to try (wich I assume you have to sep eggs for).

Did you want to get mixes? They're very easy!

I'm only looking for "from scratch" recipes, but easy ones, no mixes.

my mil told me last year that she doesn't separate the eggs, just beats eggs together with the sugar for a long time. remind me after shabbos to ask her exactly how she does it.

I assume "have" given the context.

Here's one that my MIL makes every pesach, and it's delicious. However, I'm pretty sure she doubles the recipe for the same size pan, because supposedly otherwise the cake comes out too flat. You might want to experiment with it using the original recipe first.

Super Pesach chocolate cake

4 eggs
1 1/2 cup sugar
1 c. oil
1/2 c. cocoa
1/2 c. nuts, chopped
3/4 c. potato starch

Mix eggs just until yolks and whites are combined , but not foamy. Add rest of ingredients and mix only until mixture is smooth. DO NOT OVERMIX! Bake in 9x13 pan for 45-50 min. at 350. (will prob. have to bake longer if doubling recipe)

I'm also planning on trying a crumb cake recipe from Passover by design, I believe it's also "egg-separation" free, let me know if you want the recipe and I'll type it up.

Thanks for the above recipe.
I think the crumb cake is in this week's Binah and looks good.

Cindy, it sounds like that choc cake is very similar to brownies. I am assuming that those are the easiest cakes to bake for Pesach.

Yeah, it's just a bit cakier. I used to make a brownie, that required like a dozen eggs separated, but I think it should rather be called a cake than a brownie 'cause it would come out pretty fluffy and airy, plus it made a 16x10 cake , and it never got totally eaten up.

my problem is that I don't use potato starch so I think it's impossible to find a cake where you don't separate eggs. I think I'll try this year again but if it messes up no more cake. the kids are more than happy with chocolate bars (don't ask me why we eat chocolate bars but I dont' use potato starch. This is Pesach! LOL LOL )

well there is a chocolate cake in the s&s which doesn't have potato starch but for the most part you're right.

The truth is somebody gave me a box of apples and I'm going to have a lot of apple sauce on hand. The cake's for DD who loves chocolate cake.
