Dandelion wine
The Grapes of wrath
The red pony

Neither of those particularly expanded anything in me, except my dislike of all things Ray Bradbury and John Steinbeck….(although I did like Fahrenheit 451)

lots of stuff that I learnt - like memorizing 16 poems, and a book and a Shakespeare's play for English Lit GCSE - was pretty pointless. But if anyone ever mentions it, then it's fun to be able to rattle off the entire poem "if" by rudyard kipling.
it was good to use my brain!

Algebra definitely goes on top of that list. Thank goodness my school doesn’t teach calculus or trig or anything like that. I HATE MATH.
We also learnt bookkeeping, with ledgers and all that stuff you do manually. No one was using ledger books anymore for bookkeeping when we were learning it. Ancient.
Complicated grammar, history, many forms of science, etc.

The things I do appreciate:
Typing, word, excel, Adobe
First aid
Spelling and basic grammar
Cooking classes
Halacha classes
And more

Historical figures whose names float around aimlessly and uselessly in my brain, but refuse to leave and make room for me to file away important memories like where I parked. Charlemagne. Vasco da Gama. Ponce de Leon. Louis Riel. Archduke Francis Ferdinand.

Laugh with adult brain space at a premium, these names are just too large to be worth it.

I don't know, guys, am I weird that I've used algebra and the pythagoras theorem a number of times IRL?

I've never used any chemistry whether it's balancing equations or knowing the Periodic Table of Elements - all interesting but useless information.

Have you? Please share. When on earth would one need to know the Pythagorean theorem?

I was helping DH figure out how to build the shlock for our sukkah. That's one example I can think of off the top of my head.

Learned her Halacha class that when a kid is little they don’t need to wait the full 3/6 hours between meat and dairy they can wait their age in hours. So 1 yr= 1 hour. 2 y.o = 2 hour.

Dh was not happy with this and called the Rav to get a lighter psak.. I mean I hear 12 mo is very very young to wait an hr to drink your milk..

Well, I’m in the medical field so I need this information!
Proving triangles on the other hand… I have never used since high school.

I'm weird too! I've taught the Pythagorean Theorem to my brother who never learned it. He was trying to understand a gemara (maybe in Eruvin?).
