Dr Susan Schulman used to practice in Brooklyn and helped many many people with Pandas. She retired and moved to Israel recently, however a Nurse practitioner from her office basically trained under her (from what I understand) and is now practicing in the Monsey area. Her name is Naomi Indich and I believe you can reach her by emailing Dr Schulman’s old email address susankschulmanmd@gmail.com

Good luck!

I don’t think she accepts any insurance Sad
I believe her initial consultation is $800.

Wow. Is there anywhere I could first have my child diagnosed before shelling out that kind of money? I don’t even know if it’s pandas. Why is such a common thing on imamother so complicated to get helped and diagnosed irl?

Unfortunately it’s hard to get a diagnosis and treatment anywhere because it’s a clinical diagnosis and departure from the standard medical paradigm.

I will say however, not to scare or guilt you , just to share my experience, that when my dd had her onset I also balked at taking her to dr Schulman because of her fees, I figured I would use my pediatrician and try to wing it. I deeply regret it. Because we didn’t treat promptly and aggressively we’ve had to shell out a lot more over the years for different types of specialists and treatments because we didn’t treat early enough.

Only one who takes insurance is Dr visconti in Staten Island. Anywhere else you're paying.

I think she mainly does long term antibiotics. When dr shulman was around she was also very good at getting ivig through insurance, if a parent wanted to go down that route.

Dr schulmans np - Audrey Rosner - also worked very closely with her and is amazing. She works at Ezra medical center now and accepts all insurances. She definitely would know which tests to order to get a diagnosis

Yes we did long term antibiotics for our daughter and now currently with our son. But a key factor is weaning off the antibiotics carefully, and Dr. Schulman had a very specific protocol for how to do this. Otherwise, when people just stop the antibiotics suddenly, the symptoms often return.

Yeah, based on what I see here on Imamother, it does seem like there is a super secret PANDAS society. Lots of parents concerned about it, few practitioners treating it.

And its ridiculous to charge $800 for a consult. Basically taking advantage of desperate parents.

Good Luck, OP.

I've been in the alternative health space for years trying to heal my own autoimmune diseases while my doctors want me to just keep taking potent drugs for the rest of my life. The medical industry doesn't care about your health. The practitioners who do are "alternative" and not covered by insurance so yes they charge. And they are too few, especially people get increasingly sicker from allopathic medicine.

I paid over $800 for a consult with a very experienced doctor who saw me for an hour and a half. Money well spent. Not sure about paying an NP that kind of cash though. I guess it depends how much she knows and how successful she really is.

Except this is 800$ for allopathic treatment of receiving antibiotics. No healing. No immune support. No inflammation lowering or closing the BBB...

Does she work out of the 38th Street location of Ezra?

Well I skipped the abx route for pandas and went straight to paying 800 for homeopathy. To pay that for abx is crazy, yes.

How has it been going with homeopathy? We’ve done the abx route, the functional med route and now homeopathy.
