And you cook it through Thursday night.
How does that work with safety of food? Do you let it cook fr9m thurs night to shab morn? Do you ever serve leftovers Sunday?

New to crockpot. Help me figure this out please

Why would you put it on Thursday night? That’s way too early!

I put mine up on Thursday night on low. My family likes it Friday afternoon. It's even better on shabbos morning.
I used to put away leftovers in the fridge for Sunday night, but my family doesn't want leftover cholent these days.

I put mine up Thursday at about 5 pm. Cook it on high for a few fours. Switch it to low overnight. Switch it to keep warm in the morning. Comes out amazing. Kids eat it for lunch Friday afternoon. Throw out the leftovers.

depends on your crockpot.

One type of crockpot I'd put up very late Thursday night right before I went to sleep say 12am. then lower to low Friday morning.

Nowadays I put it up Friday morning. ( I soak the beans overnight) It's good by 3pm.

It sure it. It must be either completely raw, or cooked at least a certain amount (for this you should clarify the amount). This is very straightforward in halacha.

This is interesting. I always knew it has to be at least somewhat cooked at the shkiyah. Never knew it can be completely raw.

I put it up Friday morning around 8 a.m. on high. At around 3 p.m., I switch it to low. It is perfectly cooked at that point and my family loves Erev Shabbos cholent as their pre-Shabbos snack! It stays on low and is still perfect for Shabbos day.

If it's raw then it can't be moved on Shabbos which is probably not a problem if it's in a crockpot and not on a hotplate or a blech.
