Is it cute, or weird for us to match?

I came across matching mother and daughter dresses. Slightly different obviously but still matching. Would you wear the same as your 5 year old daughter for your son's bar mitzvah or is it a bit weird?

I'm with sienna on this one. I wouldn't go for matchy matchy, but coordinating would be really nice! We just did family photos and were all coordinating.

I definitely plan to coordinate. I suppose I'd better play it safe for a simcha! We can get matching pj's LOL

You will either look like a 5 year old or your daughter will look like a mini adult.

You can make a floor length midi gown or dress and then using the same materials make a cocktail dress for your daughter.

No we wouldn't because they make the adult one and kids dresses different styles just using the same fabrics.

There is a whole industry of matching mother/daughter dresses but it’s definitely not done in the frum world. In the frum world it’s nebby. But different patterns in the same material might be ok, really depends on how matchy-matchy it looks.

I agree, that's why I said not these exact dresses but this idea. Adults and kids but not exactly the same. What does kitschy mean?

Maybe that was the wrong word. Childish and tacky more like. The dress looked cheap.
