I also lit a candle for 40 days liluy nishmas Rav Menachem Mendel ben Yosef M'Riminov and was answered. Baruch Hashem. I light after night fall (except Friday where I light before shabbos candles,) and say I'm lighting a candle liluy nishmas Rav Menachem Mendel ben Rav Yosef M'Riminov lzchus (say the person's name) that/should xyz (say whatever you're hoping for). and then say im Yirtze Hashem if it happens by a certain day, I will publicize it.

You can light any time of day. I aim for the morning so I have more time in case I forget. Good luck!

It's amazing how it works! I just did it and got pregnant bh. Now I want to do it again as a segulah for a shidduch for my brother.
I've done it countless times for friends and family and can honestly say I've almost always seen results.

You light that candle around the time you bentch licht so it will burn into the next day which is right after zman maariv. On yom tov you could light in middle of the day.

One should check with a LOR if this is permitted during Yom Tov

I lit in the morning and said its Leilui Nishmas Harav Menachem Mendel Ben Harav Yosef In zechus for me to be zoche to zera shel kayama.
I lit erev shabbos and I was told to lite on yom tov since this is a kviyus
