'Nachem
Menachi
Menna
Chemi

I have a Menachem Mendel (not Lubavitch). I tried every nickname I could. I hated them all.
I now (6+ years later) call him just straight up Menachem. It's the best.

My grandfather z”l was Menachem Mendel and called Manny by all. It’s such an old-fashioned name to me bc of that. I know they use it in the Syrian community today but they use lots of old-fashioned names bc they have the beautiful minhag of naming after living grandparents.

I think the name Menachem is so nice.

If I named a kid that, I'd probably call him Men-Men or Menny though until he was absolutely mortified.

All names are dated to who the first person you had heard with that name.
For you it's an older Man.
I know a now 10 yr old who was the first Manny I heard when they called him that as a baby so for me its a kids name. I know it took along time for someone else to connect to the name as they had known an old sad man called Manny and then calling a baby Manny was weird etc.
It goes with all names that are not typical names.

I think in those days it was very typical, just not now bc it’s old fashioned.
