Ds diagnosed with ADHD. I don't know what to do about it!!

Is there any doc that doesn't go straight to meds tries other routes first?

Is your DC on natural route for adhd that it helped DC as if on meds?

Where do I start??

Feel free to pm me for more info, but it’s worth trying fish oil, magnesium, zinc, and phosphatidylserine (vitamin friends makes a kosher gummy version). These were suggested by our pediatrician and we’re seeing a difference.

I'm reading the book Finally Focused and it has a bunch of suggestions in term of diet and vitamins/minerals.

Where do you live? You can send your son to someone who specialises in this to learn techniques - behavioural therapy can be very helpful. Medication can also often be extremely effective, especially in conjunction with therapies, so please don't discount it right away. You wouldn't write off insulin for a diabetic, in hopes of trying an "all natural" therapy right? Sometimes medication is very helpful, even temporarily, to train the brain and show it what it's suppose to be doing, so that they know what it's supposed to feel like when they're not on it. If your child does need medication, please don't make them struggle and suffer any longer.
ADHD meds are also typically very easy to stop, so it's worth considering even if on a trial basis (under a doctor's supervision) to see how DS reacts. Untreated ADHD can be way more detrimental and damaging than the medication.

Finally focused is a great book, very easy to understand and implement.

We made huge progress addressing emotional regulation, hyperactivity, focus and impulsivity by following that book, addressing diet and gut health, treating strep, yeast and parasites, and doing homeopathy. Different kid today.

I started reading the book. Lot of great information but very overwhelming. Is there anyone I can contact that can guide me more clearly with dosages and supplements according to the book?

I don’t understand how parents are comfortable pumping their kid full of supplements but wouldn’t try meds.

Supplements work along with the body and have a great safety profile. Meds work against the body and have a long list of risks and side effects.

To me, it isn’t even so much about meds vs supplements, it’s more about treating root causes, however that’s done.

You trusted your Doctors diagnoses, I would try trusting your doctor with supplements/medication too. See what he/she says. If that doesn't work, then look for other means.

Because meds have side effects like insomnia and loss of appetite and lack of weight gain in growing children. Supplements not only don't have that dude effects but can't reverse them.

Besides for which you can do both
