I need to get a new coat and I'd like it to be really warm.
I'm a very cold person and don't drive so when I go out its torture for me.
Any suggestions?

In addition to a warm coat, you need to learn how to layer effectively. Get a thin 100% silk base layer to wear under clothing, skirts. Layers insulate the warmth.

You can also try researching outerwear that Norwegian people wear. Those countries get very cold, yet spending lots of time outdoors is part of the culture.

A shearling is expensive but an investment that you can get many years out of. So extremely warm.

Then definitely Canada Goose. I went to their official store in Manhattan, because it's a big purchase without trying on, but they have a website as well.
I wore this exclusively for years. I only bought another coat because the Canada Goose was too warm once I moved to Israel.
