I dislike grating onions... I usually just do a fine fine dice for my potato kugel. What would happen if I did a regular dice? Would the kugel taste good? How about with sauteed onions?

I don’t understand…. Don’t you grate it with the potatoes?

Regular diced would make the onions stand out. You would be able to feel it when you eat the kugel. Sauted is probably a better option. Why wouldn't you grate it together with the potatoes? It tastes delicious like that.

Sometimes I sautée onions in my potato kugel it’s fantastic. If I add a pinch of sugar while it sautées it’s absolutely special

I pulse the onions first together with egg oil and salt and pepper and then grate the potatoes and add into the mixture. That way the potatoes stay nice and white and don't brown and rhe texture overall is exactly what a potato kugel should be

Onion for my kugel. I only ever dice/small

I do it all by hand. I think ill try sauteed!
