My son poured a pitcher of water on my husband's ipod. I took off the case, dried it and am leaving to dry but haven't much hope. My husband is going to have a panic attack. It's backed up but ipods are discontinued and he has invested a ton of time into his music setup.
What devices can we get instead? Something with similar look, ie touchscreen, that can hold about 128 gb with or without an sd card, under $500, that I can put a case on and connect to Bluetooth.

Why but just get an old iPhone without a data plan? It's exactly the same.

Did not know that, will required apps take up more space?
Any reccs? Do I need a specific version for new itunes? I know nothing about iphones.

I don't know iphone.. but
This is an article about apps that come preloaded which you can and can't delete:

The older the iphones might not be able to update itunes to the newest version. But only you can know if you need the newest version or just keep to the old one
