My insurance denied the bill due to timely filing. My explanation of benefits shows patient responsibility zero. Maimonides keeps on billing me the full amount because they said they submitted on time. Who or what organization can help me resolve this matter.
(A bill denied due to timely filing should be written off but the billing dept refuses)

Call your insurance and let them know you are being billed. Ask them if they can help you file an appeal.

Hi! You need to get a copy of the EOB (Explanation of Benefits) and call the billing dept at Maimonides and show it to them. Show them that there is zero responsibility to the patient. Also, if they truly did submit it on time, they will be able to send proof of that to the insurance company and then get paid, provided there are no other billing submission errors on their end.
If that doesn't work, call your insurance, tell them your doctor/hospital is billing you incorrectly, and have them call the billing dept with you on the phone to tell them to take off the charge. Usually that ends up working.
The hospital/doctor is absolutely not allowed to bill you because of their error on timely filing.

My insurance company told me it's illegal for them to bill you if you had insurance at the time of the visit.
