What is the process to get a 5 year old evaluated for speech therapy in Lakewood?

I would rather have it covered by insurance, but I’m not even sure where to start either way.

If you’re looking to get therapy through insurance, you need to start with your pediatrician. Explain your concerns and ask for a referral for a SLP evaluation. Take the script he gives you and bring it to a in network SLP. They will do the evaluation and submit it to the insurance. If your child qualifies, they will be granted a given number of sessions. After you use up those sessions, the SLP will reapply if needed to get more sessions approved. That’s the process in a nutshell.
