Mine plays with a popper in the car. Or we spend the whole ride looking for garbage trucks or school buses

What do you mean change his car seat around
Is he facing the rear?
Get him a toy just for the car

The number one reason is the car seat is uncomfortable. Make sure the straps are fit correctly, pass the pinch test, are not twisted. No jackets in the car. He might need the height adjusted check your manual for instructions. Also make sure any baby inserts are removed.

Could be an indicator of vestibular issues.

You can switch a child to a front-facing carseat once they're two.

Legally yes but you're supposed to keep them rear facing for as long as possible. My other child was rear facing for longer maybe almost 3 so I didn't think of it

It is recommended to keep rear facing until child out grows height or weight of car seat which ever comes first. with most children that's around 4yrs old. Please keep rear facing as,long as,possibly child's spine and neck are not mature enough to handle forward facing.

If they are rear facing where are they suppose to put their legs
Sorry old grandma here
I don’t remember leaving them so old rear facing.
I think by 1 -1.5 we would turn the seat around
But it’s been over 30 yrs so I may not remember correctly

It is recommended but not required. Cost-benefit analysis if the child is extremely uncomfortable likely dictates to switch.

Yeah, but it's a matter of what's working at that point. If it's not working for the child, I'd switch it. That's generally my approach with things that are recommended but not required.

Yup a lot has changed in 30yrs!
They neatly fold their legs "pretzel"style (I have tall children no issue)
Find a solution to help child adjust to car. Turning forward facing won't stop tantrums.

I switched my daughter at 16 months because she was screaming every time we went in the car. She was a dream after that, just hated rear-facing. My other ones stayed rear-facing until close to 3 but this one needed to switch earlier.
