With all else equal, how much less is a property worth if it has 8' ceilings on the 1st floor?
Most properties Ive see have 8' ceilings on the 2nd floor.
Suppose a house with 9' ceilings is on the market for $850,000 how much is an identical house worth if it has 8' ceilings?
How much less desirable to the general public, is a house with 8' ceilings on first floor ?

Thats funny!
There are houses that are built with 8' ceilings on the 1st floor.
Im asking how much less a home is worth of it has 8' ceilings on 1st floor?
Its considered a big step down, looks-wise, to 9' ceilings on the 1st floor.

I can’t answer.
But I wish I had 8 foot ceilings.
My ceiling is 7.5 and some places lower

There's no simple equation like that. The house is worth what someone is willing to pay. Do you think people will pass up on the house because of it? So it might be a little harder to sell, which may lead you to accept a lower offer. Or maybe people won't care and will give offers right away.
It's a matter of how "small" it feels with 8 vs 9 ft. For a small house 8 ft is plenty. For a larger one some may feel it's not as spacious as they'd like.
You only need one offer. In a strong market people won't be so picky about that.

I don’t know if there’s a general answer. I think some people might care, some might not
I personally would not buy a house with lower ceilings, I get very claustrophobic and need to feel space. I recently bought a house and high ceilings on all floors was an important factor for me, actually
