Just curious. What do most grandparents give as gifts? My parents gave a set of machzorim, with first name inscribed- very special- I continued the tradition (until one of my mechutanim rushed in and bought it- I just gave a cash gift and kept my mouth closed on it,wisely)- but wondering if there are other standard gifts-

We give machzorim. However we ask them if that is what they would like.
How about a camera? Or nice bag? Or a piece of jewelry? Or a personalized tehillim?

My in laws gave nothing. (My daughter still remembers 😬)

In my circles we don't really do anything major for Bas Mitzvahs, so no, no major gifts if at all.
I'm assuming if you throw a big party equivalent to a Bar Mitzvah then maybe a gift is more standard.

My family's standard gift for every occasion is cold, hard cash. Well, really a check. That lets the recipients buy what they like or save or invest if they prefer.

My parents gave a generous check and my in-laws took dd and her cousin to Israel! That was incredible and a tradition that they continued with all the grandchildren, pairing like aged cousins.
