Definitely the rachbalit. Maybe Park Hecht? There's also bowling and carting in Chutzot Hamifratz, but I don't know if you want to waste a trip to Haifa on something you can easily do in the merkaz.

The Bahai gardens used to be a thing - not any more? And I remember going to a tiny cave somewhere - the kever of Eliyahu Hanavi or something? Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

DH and I have done both of those but depending on OP's teens, not sure if they would enjoy.

I was told the cable car is out of order. Maybe it was only last week so check b4 going
And the eliyahu hanavi cave and there is a few more things bjt I dont know

Cable cars are fun, but that's not a 1/2 day trip.
How about a museum? There is a good science museum there, and the Clandestine Immigration Museum is quite good.
20 min away you could tour the Atlit Detainee Camp. Fascinating, even for little kids (part of it is a tour of a ship).
