Is the non guided tour the same route as guided tour just without the guide? Is a guide very necessary? I see the day I want to go they sold out of guided tour and only have non guided. Is it worth going still? Please advise!

You can go and look at the old stuff and read the information on the walls and plaques etc, and it's pretty interesting. But it is much, much better with a guide.
