Looking for a peanut chew recipe that doesn’t have corn syrup.

Ideally on the healthier side but I want my kids to eat it (bc they are begging for peanut chews and the store bought kind is a rip off… not talking about the classic little individual packages peanut chews I ate as a kid)

I substitute the sugar and corn syrup with honey.

My kids don’t love the strong taste of honey.

What’s the point of corn syrup? What does it accomplish (meaning is it meant to make it sticky? Hold it together? Simply loosen the body?!)

Honey or brown rice syrup. Brown rice syrup works amazing but is hard to find.

Yes, the corn syrup helps to hold it together. I use natural peanut butter, keep the sugar and only use honey as a substitute for the corn syrup so it doesn't taste so honey'ish.

Add in chocolate so it doesn’t have the honey taste.
My recipe is
1 cup peanut butter (I use the natural)
1 cup honey
6 oz dark chocolate
4 cups rice crispies
I add a topping of white chocolate mixed with peanut butter
