Is it a bad idea to buy government bonds now. Interest rate is high and the government owns 37 trillion and having to pay interest on that is 3-4 billion a day. What happens if they default?

If that happened, you’d have bigger problems than losing the money in bonds. It’s extremely unlikely.

If they defaulted then wouldn’t the dollar be worthless?
