DH in jail*, so the kids lit their own menorahs, we fried heavenly latkes, shared with an unexpected guest, and soon will be the home of the midnight menorah.
*to visit prisoners and bring them some Chanukah joy
(B"H, this all makes me very happy!)

We lit, we ate, at the same time thinking of the hostages. I don’t know it just seems this year tonight felt different. I guess since I am very sensitive it’s hitting me harder for the Jewish world tonight.

I went to menorah lighting in 770 before shkiya and then lit and home, sang, ate, spoke, and read.
Oh, and played music

We lit, sang and danced, sat everyone down in front of the menorahs and said a Perek of Tehillim for eretz yisorel, fried latkes, made food for shabbos, and comforted my crying four year old that he is getting a present a different night.

We made latkes, lit and sang, served yummy food, did a small Chanukah craft, all while trying to seem ok (bh I’m pregnant and super nauseous!).

Well, dh and I got into a huge fight. We did kind of make up, but it definitely ruined first night for me.

I always felt so connected to chanuka but I feel so disillusioned about being Jewish since October 7th, I couldn’t even look at the menorah without hurting. No davening or singing for me, I get nauseous at the thought of either of them.

I feel terrible.
Ate latkes and doughnuts.
I hope this isn’t a sign that I have gestational diabetes but rather anyone would feel this way after eating the way I did.

Agree.
Raise your hand if you davened for the hostages near the Menorah.

I’m sorry. It’s an inyan to be happy on Chanukah so try to let it go.

Teared up by lighting thinking how many can’t light this year either because they’re dead or hostage. How many family members missing them by lighting. Sincerely hoping for chanuka miracles.
