Motrin is better because it lasts longer but you can only give it when your baby is older than 6 months.

I heard somewhere that Motrin is safer than Tylenol from a natural health perspective, but I have no idea.

What works best, is alternating motrin & tylonel every 3 hours.

I give both at night if teething is so bad and individually either doesn't work. Ask your pediatrician.

23 lbs I'd give 5 ml. If you look on the bottle for dosage it says 24 lbs is 5 ml for both mottin and tylenol.

I've been giving 2.5 ml! I guess I need to give more. Thank you!

Of course it didn't help. You'd be surprised but the right dosage can really make a difference.

I actually ended up texting my Dr to make sure and he said 3 ml for Tylenol and 5 ml for motrin

That's interesting. I always follow the dosage on the bottle.

I never give Tylenol, only Motrin. You can look up studies about it.

Why? I thought Tylenol better cuz not as strong? Why so many prefer Motrin?

Tylenol is toxic to the liver. It's a leading cause of acute liver failure in the US, even with normal use. A single dose depletes the livers entire store of glutathione, a potent anti oxidant that's needed for cellular detoxification, especially in the brain.

If this is true, why would Dr's recommend it?

I can't give my kids motrin back to back because Lower platelets run in my family. One of my older kids used to get severe nosebleeds every time I gave motrin back to back. Dr. David Diamond told me to stop because it's not unheard of.
My point is that motrin is not either so black and white.

I can't speak for doctors because I'm not one, but unfortunately it wouldn't be the first or last time doctors recommend things that are far from health - promoting Sad

As far as truth, you can look it up yourself. Or I can link [mainstream] articles if you'd like.

True, all drugs come with risks. Too much motrin is hard on the kidneys and on the gut, and acts as a blood thinner. One of my children had severe platelet issues too and wasn't allowed motrin. But for the general population it's still a safer option.

Personally, I try to find effective non-drug options as much as I can, especially for benign things like teething.
