Hi,

I am new to lakewood. I heard Dr. Tal is good so I scheduled an appt at his West Kennedy office.
The secretary told me you see a nurse practitioner and over the course of a pregnancy you meet the doctors/midwives.

Then I met someone and she told me she makes sure to see a certain doctor there - is that even possible?
How does it work in Lakewood.

TIA

Just had this as well. I don’t mind rotating doctors. They’re all amazing. And with my previous baby they allowed me to choose but this time they said they stopped it and will rotate for you.

so you see everyone once and then someone comes to the birth?
Isn't that very impersonal?

Is there any doctor you recommend if they let me choose?

It's for your own advantage to try to rotate the doctors and don't forget that in your 8th month you go twice and in your 9th month you go four or five times so if there's three doctors over your pregnancy you can definitely see them each at least three times.

You have no idea who's going to be on call when you go into labor, so it's worth your while to get comfortable with all the doctors.

In my practice there are four doctors, one of them who delivered me last time so I know her well, so I did not need to see her often so this time I rotated more between the two that I didn't know as much.

Just wanted to mention that my niece had a horrible experience with Dr tal. Medically bh everything went fine but everything else was a disaster.

A group is impersonal.

No one specific to recommend. Dr. Roman is good but there’s a waiting list till April.

So if I want to see Dr Roman can I put myself on the waiting list now so I can see him towards the end of my pregnancy?

And how do I know he'll be available when I go into labor?

This is the way all group practices work. You don't know who will be on call for delivery.

I use the practice and had a baby very recently.
First of all, if you get induced after being a week overdue or more , you can choose your dr . As in, you can choose to be induced the day Dr Roman is there.
Second, I just had Salanga by my delivery. It was an induction so I was supposed to have Dr Roman but last minute it was Salanga, She was great BH.
I personally like Dr Roman, but all the doctors in the group are great.
About Dr Tal, he’s Israeli. Enough said lol

Thank you everyone for your help.

I was never yet overdue, so I don't think I'll be able to pick a day based on induction.

If I don't know who is on call is it worthwhile for me to try to get an appointment with Dr. Roman if I anyway can't request for her to deliver me?

What do I need to know about the other doctors? Am I ok with anyone delivering me (as far as medically goes). I'm hearing that Dr. Tal might be a bit rough but is still medically very reliable.

Anything else?

Dr tal delivered all of my kids , one recently. I found him to be amazing and calm by deliveries unlike office appointments where his Israeli personality comes out. I found this past pregnancy that’s he’s actually mellowed compared to my previous kids. He is a very good doctor. I like seeing Dr Roman for visits but it is hard to get her but starting in my 6 month or so I was able to get her a few times. I rotated my last few appointments will all the doctors that way they all saw me recently before the birth. For my first couple appointments I only saw the NPs.

Dr Tal seems so old. Does that impact his thinking and quick decision making during delivery?
