I heard of a girl named "Shilat" as an acronym for Shiviti Hashem Linegdi Tamid Rolling Eyes

There is a moshav near Modi'in called "Shilat" for that same reason, so I don't think that girl's parents came up with the idea.

I want to go back to the wife of Yehoshua, the fact she was a harlot is why people don't name? We call kids Tamar don't we?
People namely name after dead relatives, so that is why some names are never used, unless someone out there starts a trend by using odd biblical or old names and so their descendents will start using them.

Neither of the two Tamars was a harlot. tamar Yehuda's dil masqueraded as one to get yehuda to do his duty. since he wasn't giving his son to her for yibum so she could have a child to carry on her late dh's memory, she resorted to this stratagem. It was for the sake of a mitzvah, and she was proven right.

The second Tamar was a virtuous woman who was the unwilling victim of assault.

the Tamar, or date palm, is also one of the 7 species by which EY is blessed.

none of which explains why this name was successful and others borne by other perfectly good ppl in tanach fell into disuse.

interesting that no one mentioned Oprah - she was supposed to be Orpah, but it was written wrong on her birth certificate.... (or so I read someplace).

I know a Shar Yashuv, Avri, Ziskind, Chasya, Milca, Sharir (not sure where that one is from), Efrat and Emunah
