Hi, how do I make a sour dough starter? what are molasses ?

molasses is a sticky syrup in a jar - its near the honey and syrups in the grocery store

This is the recipe I used for my starter. I followed the instructions exactly, and got a great starter which I have been using for a few months now.

Oh, and molasses is an "is", not an "are". It's singular, a noun. It's a by-product from the production of beet or cane sugar.

Also, can honey or something else subsitute for molasses, it's 20 shekel for a small little bottle!

maybe dark corn syrup - it has mollases in it - molasses is a v strong taste - I usually skip it in recipes that call for it
