I’m serious. If you put a raw carrot or two in your oil, it will absorb the brown pieces and then you can reuse the oil the next day! Idea

I always put in a carrot when I'm deep frying, and the oil doesn't burn, but I still don't think it's healthy to reuse oil...

You know what happens to oil when it's heated and reheated?

The carrot just keeps the oil from getting dark. Doesn't make it safe to reuse oil.

OK, I'll bite - what happens to oil when you reheat it?

(I reuse oil all the time, especially the week of chanuka!)

Define toxic. As opposed to all the other garbage we put in our bodies every day.

I've done the carrot trick...poor, defenseless carrot Sad But I needed lots of carrots, enough for Tzimmes.)

if I deepfry (rare event) I use a small pot and usually throw out the oil. maybe once or twice I've reused it, when I made doughnuts.

you say to put in a raw carrot. When do you put it in - b4 you start frying or when you finished for the night? I've never heard of this b4. But the truth is, when I make my doughnuts, if I remember clearly (2 years ago) my oil was pretty clean. without it.

I reuse my oil only if I know I'll need it again in the next day or two. I can't afford to use up so much oil.

I make a batch of donuts, and just fry a few each day. Bec. their only good the day it's made.
I use the smallest pot in the house to preserve on oil.

In this day and age, who would throw out 3 cups of oil after frying just 5 donuts in it???????

Not me!

We eat all this fatty stuff to celebrate yomim tovim which Hashem wants us to keep. So he'll have to watch over us this time too.

YALT, if the issue is the money, much better to buy cheapo cottonseed oil ($5 for a gallon) and use new each day than reuse expensive olive oil.

I don/t think you should be frying in olive oil. it has a very low smoke point and is not great for frying cuz of the high temps you need for frying.
best frying oils are peanut, cottonseed... and actually shortening!
and I was told it/s great to reuse oil b/c it has some denatured properties from the first time it was used and will brown your food more evenly and not burn.
this I got from "alton brown: I'm just here for the food" AMAZING how-to cook book for dummies and smarties!

But like all things, this benefit comes with consequences.
