Not if it's not plugged in or turned on! Just don't use it until it has COMPLETELY dried, which is probably 3-4 days.

Ask a Rav. Some hold that if you plug the item into an outlet, it becomes part of the house like an oven or a fridge. OTOH, the pieces that come out (like toaster oven racks) for sure do need to be toiveled.

For the record, we hold as above, that urns and things that get plugged in directly do not themselves need to be toiveled.

this is what we were told any product that was made by a guy all you have to do is finish it off that way it is considered that it was made by a jew. for example if you take out the screws and then open up the electronic item and then put it back together it is considered as if you bought something that was finished by a jew. as for toaster ovens there is no need to toivel it just the racks.

We didn’t toivel a toaster oven just the racks. The food doesn’t touch the oven. But we toiveled a urn, Panini maker, sandwich maker, hand blender, donut maker last week so it would be dry for this week. You can put the whole thing w wire in the water. Just leave open in a room to dry for a week.

Most of the time I buy these appliances when I need them. I usually don't have 2 weeks to let them dry. The hot water urn breaks, I buy a new one. Do I have to go without it because it's drying for 2 weeks?

A few days is enough, if you have a radiator you can put the item on it and it takes a few hours

AYLOR.

You will get 1000 different answers here. There is only one that matters- what your Rav says.

This thread is 13.5 years old...my family never toiveled electrical appliances. Dh holds otherwise so we do toivel it on condition that he is the one that plugs it in for the first time afterwards.
