What's the difference? Is one smaller than the other? Or are they pretty much the same?

In other words, is 2T really to be worn around the 2nd birthday, in which case it's a LOT bigger than 24 months? Or is it for the second year, in which case it should fit after the first birthday?

I once heard that although similar in size, 2T was more toilet-training friendly clothes. That has not necessarily been my experience, though.

the only way to really know is to check the sizing in every company, in some cases 2t is bigger than 24months in others it is the same. like gymboree. also other companies that are not in their own stores might be larger or smaller than a childrens place size.

I think 2T is bigger and also I find 24 months is made for a kid in pampers, meaning it is more baggy or loose in that area and 2T is for a kid already trained.

NI many cases, 2T is bugger, but also more mature in styling. The 24 months size is usually baby clothes, in a bigger size. 2T is little girl outfits, in small.

I find that 2t is longer than 24 months in most stuff I buy.

I don't know about you, but my daughter never matched up her actual age to the size that she was fitting into.

When she was born (9lbs) none of the newborn stuff fit, so she was automatically in 3months. This trend has still continued to today. She isn't 3 yet and most of her summer clothes are either a 3T or 4T. When I compare DD to other kids her age to me she looks slightly on the tall side, but other than that normal. Her most recent measurements were in the 50-70th percentile for weight and height.

It depends on the size of your kid. Both of my boys were on the small side and fit 24 months until they actually turned two and 2T until they turned 3, etc.

My 13 month DD, OTOH, is in the 95th percentile and wears size 2T (and some 3T now). If she were a boy she could share some clothes with her three-year-old brother who wears a 3T.

I've found that 24 months means up to 24 months whereas 2T lasted from 2-3 years

in my experience, the 2T's are taller than the 24 months. This is what I have found in the pants at least. But I only have boys so I dont know how the skirts work

I thought 24 mos was 18-24 mos and 2T was 2-3 yrs, but I just noticed that Childrens Place no longer carries 2T, but goes straight from 24 mos to 3T. I'm a bit confused about what size to buy for my just-turned 2 year old. I would normally get her 2T, so I'm afraid 24 mos will be too snug, but 3T seems like it would be huge.

Childrens place is an exception to the rule. According to their sizing chart 3T is for 2-3 year olds and 4T is for 3-4 year olds.

I bought DD a bunch of 4T shirts from the summer from both childrens place and gymboree.

The ones from children's place are a lot longer. I personally prefer the fit of the gymboree ones, but I think that has more to do with DD's figure than the shirt itself.

Also all of the 4T skirts that I got from both places are on the short side, I personally would not think that they would be appropriate for a girl above the age of 3, but that depends on the standards of your community.

I find that most stores or companies make either 24 months or 2T. Usually not both.

I look at 2t as the size btwn 24 months and 2t, in most cases, and I agree it's the start of the toddler clother (more mature vs. the baby sizing) which stops at 24 months.
