There is the highest waterfall in the Catskills nearby. There is very nice hiking at North and South Lake.

Hunter mountains is not so far. It is a chair lift with hiking. But make sure that your four year old will be able to sit the whole time if not it can be dangerous.

I'm actually going there tonight! My husband spent all his summers growing up there.
As per lodgings, there is something in walking distance to the shul - http://www.bbonline.com/ny/greenemtn/
There are others too - look online.
Wherever you'd stay, there are lots of brochures with nice things to do. There's North Lake/South Lake with boating, biking, nature trails etc. There's a nearby botanical gardens, miniature golfing, Kaaterskill Falls... there's so many nice activities to do!
Enjoy!

My SIL stayed at http://www.kaatskillmtnclub.co.....ID=65 this summer. She had 2 bedrooms, kitchen and living room. She went during the week so I don't know how many steps you have to climb to the room.
I believe that she said it was walking distance to the hunter shul. It is right across the street from the Forester hotel. She has stayed in the forester before but she didn't have a kitchen which would be hard for shabbos (could be they have other rooms)
I would love to go this shabbos, but I don't want to be couped up with my 2 kids in the room the whole day.
Also if you stay there they were having a 3 nights for the price of 2 spectail. I think the code was ILNY but I'm not sure.
There is also 2 bedroom apartments for rent in Tannersville near the shul, in the eruv, with a kitchen. http://www.tannersvillevacatio.....html. I don't know anyone who has stayed there.

In terms of what to do - we went to a great animal farm there - you feed the animals, give them bottles, plus there is a small playground, moon bounce, small train ride, pony rides, and a chimpanze show. It is a expensive but my kids had a great time there (we didn't do everything). http://www.bailiwickranch.com/trailrides.html
Lake Minnewaska is a park with a beautiful walk around a lake that you can do with a a stroller. Nearby is Kelder farm is a small farm with a petting zoo, veggie picking, hay rides. (They also have c'v ice cream bars there ). (Both are a bit more south, you can do it on your drive up or down)

Don't know if anyone is still interested but if you eat chalav yisroel and pas paltar then this looks like a great option (you may want to check into the rabbi who gave the hechsher bec. I have no clue how it is: http://www.harrishunter.com/
We spoke green mountain view inn and they seem very accomadating about shabbos. But I don't think it is an option for us.

R. Bomzer is the Rav HaMAchshir of our Vaad (VKCD). He's very easy to talk to, and IMHO I would call him to get the specifics of this particular place and what his teudah means. It's not clear to me since the letter head is CBAJ (the shul) and not the Vaad that it is technically under VKCD supervision, but rather he giving testament , etc. that he trusts the proprietor and the proprietor is shomer shabbos and what products he trusts the proprietor to be providing. Also, there is no experation on this teudah.
He's basically saying he trusts this yid, not that he supervises the kashrus as I would read this.

And another idea: http://www.springwellmanor.net/index.html
I'm not sure if they are opening this shabbos, and I don't think they will have a minyan. But if they are opening they are a 20 minute walk from the shul.

Bumping this up because we are going to Tannersville for Shabbos next week, to the kosher bed and breakfast that just opened. Any ideas on what we can do there on Sunday/Friday, or on the way to/from Lakewood? TIA!

I think Minnewaska state park can be along the way. It is gorgeous to walk around the top. (carriage friendly)
Hunter Ski Lift.
With Kids? BAILIWICK Animal farm
North Lake South Lake park also gorgeous. (carriage friendly)
Kaaterskill falls hike. go early because it gets pretty crowded later in day. Not baby\very young children friendly.

Sounds good. Any other places? Any kosher restaurants nearby, or anything else interesting to see?
