How many were there of you? Since THREE children are harder to raise then any other amount. since it's common ufortunatley to care for the older one in diff ways and the younger one is the baby always cuty pie so the middle one if a parent is not careful could end up being the sandwich. Confused

Anyways by the way you ask the question it's not like we can custom design our familys now.... is it Very Happy

Since you really like this question I'll answer it LOL LOL

Of course it matters.

I am oldest girl. An oldest girl doesn't matter how many boys there are infront, she is like a first born.

Since when does anyone ask us our opinion??
The only way to choose, is to do IVF with testing of embryos. If you want to spend $14,000 - $30,000 for choice of s-x of your child, go ahead...

Sorry but what is the connection?

Do you think that being born in the order that you were -affected you?
Of course you can't choose. You can't choose where you grow up but that affects you. doesn't it?

Happyone, you can spend all the money in the world and you cannot change your birth order! Even if you pay a million dollars, you will always be the oldest/middle, etc. I guess if you pay your parents to have one more, you can avoid being the youngest! Wink (fyi, birth order has nothing to do with gender - it is what number kid you are in your family!)

I'm middle but the youngest girl and the youngest child for a while. I was a little princess, lol!

YES, we studied an experiment on birthorder in college and then used the information and tested ourselves to see if it was true, and it really is according to all the people who were in the class at the time.

75% of people in therapy are the oldest children!!! (a psychologist told me this) shock
Oy, what do we do to our oldests? we make them crazy with our expectations and demands. They are more likely to be nervous and high strung, type A personality.

I guess it goes both ways, the pressure to succeed is much stronger on the first child then the rest, so it can result in someone becoming great (president, gadol hador) or... put them over the edge...

for the record, both I and my husband are oldest and we think we benefitted greatly by being so. But I do see that I am much more strict with my first than with my second. I constantly have to remind myself not to put my own "issues" onto her, stop bugging her about every little thing, and let her be a normal 4 year old. With the second, if he does something wrong, we laugh, oh he's so cute...

Sorry, misunderstood the question...
neither can you choose birth order.
kids, I find, always think life is greener on the other side. Oldest wish they were youngest, youngest would love to be oldest etc...
My close friend was a youngest of a large family. I always envied her, and the undivided attention she got.... Once I got older and realized that she basically lived a very lonely life with a "bubbylike" mom, I counted my blessings.
