My mother is looking to put in a new floor in the kitchen/dining room (posting anon b/c she has friends on here ) It's a high traffic area. Previously, there were tiles, but they are hard to maintain unless they're ceramic, which isn;t good when it comes to kids and boo-boos... She's thinking about hardwood -imitation(laminate)
So, if you have this type of flooring, is it 1. Long lasting? 2. Easy maintaenance? 3. Any other pros/cons?
Which type of floors would you recommend/not recommend? And why?
Thanks!

The latest 'perfect' floor is laminate. But not the wood look necassarily, they now come in tiles that mimic stone, marble, granite, slate. They are easy to maintain & last long, so they say.
