Birth certificate has an error, what should I do?

not sure where to put this but....
I finally got my sons birth certificate in the mail. I waited 2 1/2 months and I checked it over and they spelled my husbands name wrong. they wrote david and my husbands name is dovid.
do I send it back and wait another 3 months or leave it.

I would leave it rather then wait 3 more months, but then again I am lazy 8)

Tovah what is your husbands legal name? If it is Dovid then you have to send it back.

make a copy to have for what you need..and send it back to correct.
unless you're applying for a passport and need the original.

If its your sons birth certificate then why would it make a difference how they spelled your husbands name? Its not your husbands birth certificate!

We had a similar situation with my youngest son's bc--they spelled my maiden name slightly wrong. I sent in for a revision, not because I expected it would cause him any real problems so much as because if someone in future generations is trying to use the data for geneology they might not be sure they had the right people, and things like that. Plus, it just bugged me! I had to order a copy of my own bc first, because I couldn't find it. Oddly even though my dh didn't have to sign anything for the original, both of us had to sign the revision request and have it notarized.

here's a question...when my first four children were born...my husband's legal name was his English name. Then he became an out-of-town shul rav and decided to legally change his 1st name to his Hebrew name. The two names aren't even close! Does anyone know if I should get new copies of my kids' birth certificates. My 5th was born after the name change! I don't want any confusion for my kids later on!
